Ryhthm Machine The Quadraphonic All StarsThis was an odd one really. I decided to bust out the old Acieeeed machine and see if it still worked. I forgot how much I loved the thing and 2 weekends later, I had a new track. I should use it more often. It’s a head-banger. Hope you like it.

I might do a video for this one. Watch this space…

Weekend Warrior Single Cover artI devote this song to all the pot-bellied, mullet haired, self-styled rock-legends that used to come into the music shop in which I worked years ago to bang on about how they could ‘feel the spirit’ in the wood of their guitars….yeah ok mate.

Originally, this song was written around 2005 but I shelved it because, as is often the case, I got interested in working on something else. I usually have about 4 songs in development at any one time. I resurrected it about 6 months ago and decided to see it through. It will eventually be on a new album that I’m working on at the moment.

I hope you like it…

Weekend Warrior by Quadraphonic All Stars

Having had quite a bit of time off from my real job over Christmas and the New Year, I took the opportunity to work on a song that I originally wrote back in 2005 called ‘Weekend Warrior’. I started work on the recording early last year and shelved it but decided to resurrect it in a moment of madness. It just needs a few overdubs and mixing and it will be ready to be released into the big wide world.

New track up -

Sometimes it’s fun to forget about lyrics and concepts for a while and just have some self-indulgent fun. Well that was the idea but, in fact, this track took longer to sort out than some of my ‘proper’ songs with lyrics. This is because I get bored very quickly and I find it hard to flesh out an instrumental track for 4 or 5 minutes. I find it easier to write real songs with lyrics and a verse-bridge-chorus structure.

There a very few artist that can make repetition work . Aphex Twin, Underworl and Kraftwerk spring to mind but even these revered masters push it sometimes.

Anyway, I’m happy with the track and the poky little drums sounds were fun to work with. I hope you enjoy

Whirligig by Quadraphonic All Stars

I wrote this cautionary song about I guy that I used to know who had a relationship with a female work colleague. When it turned sour, she accused him of sexual harassment and he was sacked. He had a nervous breakdown as a result and went to live in a mud hut in Africa……true
